1. Each Youth must be a member of LLQHA in good standing for the current year;
2. Each Youth must send in the "Letter of Intent" postmarked by May 31, 2010 to the Youth Advisor. If it is not received by the Youth Advisor, you will be ruled ineligible for the Team. For the past 2 years we have not sent a team to Congress, partly due to youth member not turning intent letters in on time. Sent your letter early;
3. Each Youth must sell three (3) sponsorships of $25 each, which must be returned to the Youth Advisor postmarked by June 30, 2010. If they are not received by the Youth Advisor, you will be ruled ineligible for the Team;
4. Each Youth is expected to work at an LLQHA-run show or other LLQHA sponsored event. A worksheet must be completed at each LLQHA event and signed by a Director to verify the amount of time worked. If the Youth works a total of six (6) hours during the year and makes the Youth Team, the Club will pay up to $100 towards the Youth's stall at Congress. If the Youth makes the Team but has not worked six (6) hours, the Youth must pay for his/her own stall. This may count towards the Sportsmanship award given at the year end.
5. The qualifying period will be from March 1st up through and including shows through the end of July. Your qualifying points will be taken from all shows during this period.
6. If a tie exists, this will be broken by taking additional shows into account. If a tie still exists after additional shows are taken into account, then the Directors will use their discretion to break the tie.
In the past years, there has been a lack of interest in having a "stall decoration theme." You will notice that on the Letter of Intent there is a space for you to say if you want to decorate the stall area. Bear in mind that if you want to do this, you will have to put the time in to planning it and putting the decorations up and taking them down. If the majority wish to have the stalls decorated, then there will be a meeting after the team has been selected to discuss responsibilities and the theme.
Team members will be responsible for keeping the tack, dressing area and the aisle clean and tidy. You will be responsible for organizing this between yourselves. It is not up to the Youth Advisors or your trainers to do this. Part of the stall decoration award is for tidiness--not just on the day of judging the stalls.
We would also like for the Team members to organize amongst themselves for the supply of drinks and snacks over the Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday of the Tournament.
Although we are only asking for three sponsorships from you to be eligible for the Team, we would point out to you this money goes towards your Team outfits and stalling costs. Any sponsorships received above the minimum required would be gratefully received by the Youth Advisors and these can be received up until the first of August. There will also be fund raisers during the year which we will expect the "Team hopefuls" to assist in. The more money that is raised, the better the outfits and the greater the likelihood that the youth stalls will be paid for.
